Meet Dr. Hardy. Improving our safety is at the center of Dr. Cordell Hardy’s work as a technical manager in 3M’s Safety & Graphics Business.
From Scotchlite™ Reflective Materials that improve the visibility of those who wear them to industrial cleaning products that create cleaner, safer facilities, Dr. Hardy’s research team has been responsible for leading and supporting technology commercialization programs in such diverse areas as particulate and chemical filtration materials, protective and optical coatings, abrasives and sustainable materials. Dr. Hardy’s science is brought to life in a broad range of 3M products that positively impact our daily lives.
Having experienced the enduring benefits of STEM-focused education in his own life, Cordell is passionate about helping others discover them as well. His first role at 3M involved product development for 3M’s Consumer business. Since then, he has held management roles of increasing responsibility in product development and product stewardship prior to his current role.
A former National Science Foundation Fellow, Cordell joined 3M in 2003 after completing a BS at Florida A&M University and a Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, each in chemical engineering. He is married and has three children.
