Meet Dr. Been. Harnessing scientific knowledge to heal. That idea is at the heart of Dr. Raha Been’s
work at 3M. Dr. Been is a senior research scientist with the 3M Critical and Chronic Care Solutions Division where her research focuses on advanced wound care and skin integrity technologies. Dr. Been is a pivotal leader in 3M’s Health Care group as it drives 3M’s future in regenerative medicine forward. In her role, Dr. Been supports the healthcare laboratory through translational research to make findings from basic science useful for practical applications that improve human health. The strength of her scientific approach is clear – Dr. Been has three patents pending and is the recipient of two innovation awards in 2015, including the prestigious 3M Circle of Technical Excellence.
Outside of the lab, Raha is committed to sharing her passion for the power of science. She is serving as a judge for the 3M Innovation Award at the Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair and is a mentor for numerous programs including the Teachers Working in Science and Technology program.
Raha earned a Ph.D. in Comparative and Molecular Bioscience from the University of Minnesota in 2012, where she focused on cancer gene discovery and functional genomics.
