Meet Ms. Ulery. Sherry Ulery currently serves as the Chief of Staff to the Chief Education Officer of Chicago Public Schools. A 1977 graduate of Wright State University with a major in English, Ms. Ulery completed her first Master's in Curriculum and Instruction in 1983 at John Carroll University and also holds a Master's in Educational Leadership with Principal certification.
A former Reading/English Language Arts teacher who has taught grades 7 - 12, Ms. Ulery has also served in DC Public Schools and Cleveland Municipal School District where she held the positions of Chief of Teaching and Learning and Chief of Curriculum Content and Professional Development, respectively. Prior to joining Chicago Public Schools, Ulery served on the Emergency Financial Manager's team in Detroit Public Schools as the Deputy Chief of Academic Affairs.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Ulery has been responsible for the development and implementation of the Cleveland Municipal School District Literacy System and a District Comprehensive Professional Development Framework and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the District's Content Standards.
