As I finish work on my prototype I have been doing a lot of works with sensors. As such, I have learned a lot about sensors, specifically Proximity Sensors, and Accelerometers. Working with sensors has been very fun, but however has required a lot of extra work; to learn how to use the sensors themselves. I have prepared a video for you to see, so that you can see some closeups of the sensors.

My blog this week is a video about some of the things I have learned during the summer mentorship with my 3M scientist mentor, Dr. Eberman. In the video, I mention qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data can be observed, but not measured. On the other hand, quantitative data can be measured. Even though I am backlit in the video and difficult to see, I decided to post this because of the excellent example of a qualitative observation that nature provided.

Over the past weeks, I have been testing pieces of my prototype to determine its viability, and last night, I finally developed a first rough but working version of the entire prototypical system! It was challenging, interesting, and extremely satisfying to build a working prototype! I have become very interested in the computational biology and bioinformatics fields and find them to be quite fascinating.

I just can't believe it- there's only about a month left until the day we are all anticipating! Time is flying so fast and moving so slow at the same time. But before I know it, the big day will have arrived!
Doesn't it seen that time goes by so slowly when you are anxiously waiting for something?
Having a chance to collaborate and interact with a 3M scientist has really been the experience of a lifetime. An amazing opportunity like this doesn't come along often, does it? This summer has been my most memorable one, and I will always cherish the memories I have created. "When opportunity knocks on your door, answer it with a smile." Indeed. Read more

One of the highlights of my summer has been my weekly Friday afternoon call with my 3M mentor, Dr. Cordell Hardy. In his incredibly polite and supportive style, Dr. Hardy has brainstormed new ideas with me. Read more

Hey guys! The a summer mentorship has meant a lot to me. It was amazing to get to work with my mentor, Dr. Free. He taught me so much about scientists and what they do. He has taught me many different ways to think about things that I never would have thought about myself. He also sent me some 3M products that I need for my project. It has just been a pleasure to work with him. I can't wait to see you all and all of your projects in October! Read more

Quite so! You have not observed. And yet you have seen. That is just my point. Now, I know that there are seventeen steps, because I have both seen and observed.

As I continue to work on my project, I have been having to do a lot of research. I have contacted other people to ask them questions, about how my device would help them, and I have done a lot of online research. I also have learnt how to do patent searches, and research if my idea has been done. Read more
