Young Scientist Challenge

ANDREW - THINKING LIKE A SCIENTIST

This has been a very exciting past couple weeks. I have come up with many great ideas in my scientist’s notebook. I realized that some of the problems affect millions of people, such as the current water shortage in California, and some fewer people, like losing a pet. After many hours of research and brainstorming, I had finally picked my top 3 ideas. It was very hard to narrow my list to three, but I finally did it.  After thinking like a 3M scientist for a week, these are the ways I narrow down problems: Read more

NIKITA - BEFORE THE TOP TEN

It was really nice communicating with and getting to know my mentor this week!

I actually found this contest being inspired by my older sister who just recently had won a few science competitions for high schoolers. While I was there, I received the thrilling news about being selected as a finalist. I couldn't believe it! Read more

DAVID - MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE YOUNG SCIENTIST CHALLENGE

I have always been fascinated with technology, but I started to get really interested in science over the last two years. I actually entered the Young Scientist Challenge two years ago with an invention made to conserve water for public restrooms. Even though I didn't place, I told myself never to give up and entered again this year. I think perseverance is very important in science and technology research. As the famous saying goes, "You fail your way to success." Read more
