There are so many things in this world that we would all like to change. There are the smaller, more petty things, like having to make our beds in the mornings or keeping all of your notebooks organized for school. Then there are the larger, more global and serious problems, like poverty, global warming, war, and other problems that make it harder to go about our everyday lives, such as vision deficiencies.

Blindness is a problem that occurs in people all around the world. Not only is it impossible to do some of the things that can make life sweeter, like writing or driving, but people can also lose the chance to experience life to the fullest.Vision deficits, such as Age-related Macular Degeneration and Retinitis Pigmentosa, plague people of every ethnicity and country. I believe that if we start with solving this problem, we could definitely make people healthier and happier, which I’ve found is a main element to helping make the world a better place.
Researching this topic has brought me to the point where I know that if I can do something, I will. I think that if I had not gone so in depth into this area of science, I wouldn’t have felt as much for those who suffer from diseases, such as AMD. I want my research to make the world a better place, but to accomplish this it will be difficult. While it is really tough to find information that can help me, there are some things that make me feel better about the field I am pursuing for this project. I've seen a lot, but also see the need for more work to be done in this area.
