Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.

Hey everybody! This is my first blog of the year for the 2012 Young Scientist Challenge! I'd like to thank both Discovery Education and 3M for the opportunity to participate in this competition. I'd also like to thank my friends and family for their support through everything I've done.
I've been a part of the science fair since kindergarten, and since then, I have done multiple experiments with environmental science, microbiology, and various others. Doing science fairs year after year gave me the knowledge and understanding I needed to do this project. I originally chose my project on coral death and bleaching for our regional science fair. I won second place as well as a sponsor award from the NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The video was fun to make- I love working with the support of my teachers and friends. I entered it into this competition, and I placed in the top ten! I was shocked but delighted when I found out.
After learning about the results, I called up my family members and emailed my friends, all of whom were so excited to learn that I was a top ten finalist.
I can't wait to start working on my project with my mentor! My project that I submitted originally was on coral death, but this summer I'm hoping to do something slightly different. I'm so excited!
