I think the reality of the competition just sunk in a little deeper. I woke up thinking about the trip to Minnesota. I’m really looking forward to meeting my mentor in person, the finalists, as well as all the people who are supporting us in the competition. Probably the most challenging part of this entire journey was breeding mosquito larvae. At times, there would be no evidence of mosquito larvae in the water. A day later I could come back and there would be hundreds of larvae floating on the surface. Two days later, I could come back and there wouldn't be anything.
Another challenging part of my journey was finding a way of mounting the electronics in a dry, waterproof place onboard the robot. I went through six prototypes trying to do just this! Read more

The best part of the entire innovation process, in my opinion, is the actual building of the prototype. I like to just sit down and get my hands dirty. Working with a 3M mentor is a lot of fun. It's really nice being able to bounce ideas off of someone. The most challenging part of the entire journey so far has been dealing with live insects, which behave in ways you don't expect.
