SANJANA - NARROWING AND SELECTING A PROJECT IDEA

Ever since Discovery Education and 3M announced that I was a finalist, I have come up with possible problems we face that I could solve as my final project. I narrowed the list down to three problems, by choosing the ones I was most interested in solving. I also took into consideration the time I had and the scope of impact of my solution. I eliminated the ones that addressed only a limited amount of the population. I eliminated the ones that did not have a large economical impact as well. Read more

Amulya - Week 2

Hey everyone–Amulya here!

Over the past week, I’ve been making so much progress. I’ve been working on turning my dream of making my program into an app a reality, as well as figuring out 3M materials to utilize in my invention. I have so many ideas!

Hi! my name is Sanjana, and I am super excited to write about my first day experience preparing for the summer long project and to be mentored by Dr. Dailey. First of all, I would like to thank Discovery Education and 3M for considering my idea and allowing me to work with proper guidance from a renowned scientist. I am truly honored by it. About two months ago, after winning awards at Science Olympiad competitions, my 8th grade Science teacher suggested that I submit my new idea to Young Scientist Challenge. DR. MARY CARUSO DAILEY - THE FINAL EVENT

The long-awaited event is finally here! The finalists and their families arrived in St. Paul, MN, the international headquarters for 3M Company, to start the jam-packed two days for the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge. SAHIL DOSHI NAMED AMERICA’S TOP YOUNG SCIENTIST

SAHIL DOSHI NAMED AMERICA’S TOP YOUNG SCIENTIST| The top 10 finalists of the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge traveled to 3M headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota earlier this week to compete for the title of America’s Top Young Scientist and $25,000! Ninth grader, Sahil Doshi, from Upper St. Clair School District’s Upper St. Clair High School, took home the title. Read more
