KATHERINE - FINDING A PROBLEM TO SOLVE
There is a wide range of problems in the community from obesity to lack of clean water. Choosing three problems was difficult. I decided to choose based on many factors including:
• The importance – I wanted to help solve a problem that affected as many people as possible.
• The existing solutions – I want to create a better a better solution to solve a problem
It’s important to find a balance between these two factors. Many of the important problems already have amazing solutions. I tried to find a balance by finding a relatively new problem that still affects most people.
I think that 3M scientists like seeing the direct benefit that their work has on others. They are working to solve problems that affect everyone around us.
