Aishani- Picking the Top Three Ideas
As Week 2 of my summer mentorship is coming to an end, I just can't believe how fast time has flown by! I'm back from my five day vacation to Florida (impressive scenery over there!), so now I can direct my full attention towards my project. :)
A major challenge that I have encountered this week is deciding which three problems I will consider for my final project. I had many things to consider while selecting my top three ideas. Some of my problems that I had jotted down last week had to be eliminated because - they did not affect a large population - I couldn't find a whole lot of information on the problem - or they already had innovative solutions to them. During my research, my mind was blown by the many technologies that have already been invented! I can't fathom how hard scientists work each day to invent new innovations to make our lives easier.
Then I had to decide which problems interested me most. That was another challenge, since I just couldn't decide which ideas I liked best! I am extremely grateful for my outstanding mentor, Dr. Wolk's assistance in selecting the three problems I want to move forward with.
Everyday, 3M scientists and inventors work towards improving the lifestyles of people around the world. Any medical or social problem that we face today provides inspiration to 3M scientists- these problems motivate the inventors to create innovative solutions! In a similar way, problems that I have observed around me have motivated me to think of solutions for them.
Again, I am really excited to be a part of this amazing experience, and I hope to make the most out of it! Good luck to all the other finalists on your projects!
